Mark's Birthday Party

Here are some pictures that our friend Ben took when we had some friends over to celebrate Mark's birthday.

Look at the camera, Anna!

Fun times. I set up our tent that we got as a wedding gift, that had (sadly) never been used, to entertain the kids and it seemed to work well. They only knocked it over a couple of times. Notice also the "Off" in the picture. The mosquitos are eating us alive over here! They seem to like young child flesh especially.

Corn Hole: The great mid-western past-time. Its kind of like horseshoes.

More corn hole. Nice action shot of the birthday boy. :)

Sweet Hopey.

Sweet Little Anna.

Our family away from family. (Don't worry Grandmas, they could never replace you!) 2 of these families are moving away in the next month. Sad. Also notice Hope holding the newborn. She really loves babies.

I put this one up on the front page of the bow site. Too bad Anna was leaning the wrong way. Cute girls :)

Recent Pictures

Anna's starting to love baby dolls. She likes carrying one around with her everywhere she goes. She doesn't seem to have attached to one certain one, yet. Also, in this picture you can see her newest hair-do :)

Just a picture outside from today!

Some of the cutest little summer baby legs you'll ever see, for sure. Notice the skinned knees and chipped toe nail polish.

Reading the Bible to a baby doll up her shirt. And she LOVES that skirt. She would wear it everyday if I let her.

We are getting about a bowl full of strawberries every other day.

"Watering" the garden from the pool water.

And my favorite: Anna LOVES picking strawberries and eating them. She's pretty good at picking only the red ones. She eats them green tops and all.

THE Rogers Family Apple Pie

Its Mark's favorite dessert, passed down from Grandma Rogers. Mark's mom is a pro at making it. I have observed her in action several times, hoping to soak up her apple pie making abilities. I have been attempting it once a year, for his birthday for about 7 years now. It is quite the daunting task. BUT this year, I slayed the beast. I was able to fold up that pie dough and place it in the pan with no issues (except having to patch it together some here and there. ) This is the first time I have done it without help, and that I haven't gone crazy.

If there was something I could tell my newly married self it would be this: ask for more help with cooking and baking. No one is supposed to have it all magically figured out!

Happy 30th birthday, Mark!

June 3, 2010, birthday morning.

Counting up last night, I realized that I met Mark 2 months shy of 10 years ago. I've had the privilege of having a front row seat to seeing God's working in him over the years. His 20's were full. I'm tired just thinking about them. Really, I've watched him grow from a boy to a man. I've seen him grow in humility, service, patience, wisdom, selflessness, perseverance and love. All the gracious work of the Spirit in his life, and all characteristics of our Savior.

We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast this morning, and Mark opened some gifts. Tomorrow we will celebrate with some friends. The menu? Chili dogs, cheetos, mt. dew and apple pie. He may be 30, but he loves jr. high food.
